In October of 2015 Christina will be taking up an Artist in Residency for 6 month at Sculpture Space NYC, founded by Magda Dejose and Andrew Kennedy. They describe themselves as, "...an experimental ceramic center, dedicated to sculptors, artists and designers who are interested in researching new material possibilities with clay as part of their creative practice, and also exploring the full potential of ceramics across disciplines. We provide the space, equipment, guidance, and opportunities for exchange and residencies.".
You can follow the progress of the residency in New York City on instagram @christinaluciagiuffrida
This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.
On May 29th Christina was awarded the 'ArtStart Grants' from the Australia Council. This late grant (now sadly scraped due to devastating budget cuts) supports emerging artists embarking on career establishing activities. This grant will assist Christina during her 6 month residency in New York City as well as the acquisition of an electric kiln back in her hometown of Sydney.
Christina would sincerely like to thank the Australia Council, assisted by the Australian Government, for their support.
Recently Christina has secured additional funding for her residency in New York from the Ian Potter Cultural Fund. Christina would like the thank the Trust for the generous support.
